BDS Maschinen GmbH is a world-leading manufacturer of magnetic drilling machines, plate beveling machines, and annular cutters.

All of the BDS products are made at our state of the art factory located in the city of Mönchengladbach in Germany. Currently BDS has a distribution network covering more than eighty countries worldwide including India which is one of the very latest additions to this network.

In 2013 BDS entered India and started to tap into this potentially huge market place. It was a late start for BDS and the main challenge for us was the buying power of the customers. The Indian market needs the lowest possible prices but this had to be achieved without compromising the amazing BDS quality. We quickly understood the needs of the Indian customers, their style of business and the importance that they placed on low pricing. Within a short time the BDS products became very popular and they have now become a firm favorite with our Indian customers.

Our company was overwhelmed by the response from our Indian customers and so with the help of Dealer, Employees & Suppliers, we set up the manufacturing of one of our best magnetic drilling machines in India. This would help us to minimize the high customs and freight costs incurred when we imported our products into India from Germany. Manufacturing our products in India and selling them in India would be a win-win situation for all.

We did have some initial set up issues but we worked hard and did not let this stop us from fulfilling our dreams and making the manufacturing in India a great success. Working with the best people, the right partners, and the correct employees towards a shared dream we can now offer our very first magnetic drilling machine that is made in India, the MABasic 35.

Not just assembled in India, but completely made in India.

Our first-ever ‘Made in India’ machine the MABasic 35 magnetic drilling machine is designed in Germany and manufactured in India. The motor of the MABasic 35 is of the same high quality as the motor on our German-made machines which have more than 30 years of experience behind them.

The MABasic 35 machine has all of its motor parts and gearbox made in India at an Indian subsidiary of a renowned German power tool company. The most important parts of the motor are the field coil and the armature which are also manufactured in-house in India. The stand of the machine together with the magnet are manufactured in-house at the state of the art casting facility. The copper coils used in the magnets are sourced from a very high-quality local supplier.

The electronic components like cables, switches, PC boards, etc. are also sourced from Indian vendors.

The complete machine is assembled in India by a highly skilled team of workers and engineers at the Indian subsidiary of a renowned German power tool company.

Launch

The brand new MABasic 35 machine was launched at the JW Marriot hotel in Mumbai some months ago. It was a big surprise for all of our Indian dealers and distributors. Even our sales team in India was taken by surprise with the announcement. This was something that we had all dreamed of and now it was a reality. It was amazing to see everyone’s smiling faces at the launch. Unbelievable in fact.

Demonstrations

Our first ever made in India machine had immediately won the hearts of our distribution team. The sales started on the day of launched and almost every dealer booked good quantities of machines. The next job was the field test. The demonstrations of the machine at the end-user started the next day.

Sales

Our first ‘Made in India’ MABasic 35 machines were sold in India the following day at a heavy engineering and fabrication company. The machine soon became loved by our dealers, distributors and the end-users, and we sold more than 500 units within the first few weeks.

Export

Our new ‘Made in India’ machines are now being exported to Germany, the Middle East, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Turkey, Vietnam, Israel, South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, and many more countries. Very soon we will start exporting to both the USA and the UK following the development of our 110 Volt option.
